02 NCAC 60B .0102. COUNTY FOREST RANGER EMPLOYMENT

(a) Although the cooperative agreement indicates the county forest ranger's status as a state employee, the department shall consult the county board of commissioners prior to the employment of a new county forest ranger.
(b) When a vacancy occurs for county forest rangers, the director shall request the board of county commissioners:
(1) to solicit applications for the vacant position; and
(2) to submit to the division a list of at least three applicants acceptable to the board who meet established State Personnel requirements.
From the list of acceptable candidates, the director shall select a county forest ranger, or shall request the board to submit a list of other candidates.
