14B NCAC 08B .0108. APPLICATION PROCESS: STEP SEVEN: REVIEW OF FILE

  • (a)  Upon the satisfactory completion of the background investigation as hereinabove provided, the investigator shall prepare a narrative report of his investigation and submit it with the entire file to the chief with a recommendation for acceptance or rejection of the applicant.

    (b)  If the investigator recommended that an applicant be accepted, or if the investigator recommended that an applicant not be accepted and the chief disagrees, the chief, after reviewing the applicant's file, shall schedule an interview with the applicant.  The chief may also interview any other applicant when it is determined that an interview would be advisable.  The chief, after reviewing the applicant's file or following the interview, whichever is later, shall submit to the Secretary of the Department a cover memorandum with a recommendation for acceptance or rejection attached to the entire file.

    (c)  At this point, further processing of the application shall cease until such time as the chief determines that there are sufficient vacancies in BPS to require that the applicant attend the Basic Training School required by BPS. When the chief determines that a BPS Basic Training School will be held, he shall arrange the processing of a sufficient number of applications, according to the procedures set forth in Regulation .0110 (PHYSICAL EXAMINATION) of this Section.
