19A NCAC 05A .0101. AVAILABILITY OF VEHICLE REGISTRATION RECORDS

Latest version.
  • The motor vehicle registration records maintained by the division of motor vehicles are declared by the General Statutes to be public records and available to the public for inspection during normal working hours. These records are contained on computer storage and therefore are not available for individual inspection by the public.  Therefore, in order to meet the requirements of public access, the data processing section has prepared an appropriate computer program to select from the data base records on request.  The division can prepare listings of vehicle records based on the following criteria:

    (1)           full file copy,

    (2)           selection by vehicle make (Ford, Chevrolet, Plymouth, etc.),

    (3)           selection by county,

    (4)           selection by year model (1971, 1972, 1958, etc.),

    (5)           selection by body style (passenger, truck, motorcycle, etc.),

    (6)           any combination of items listed in (2) through (5) of this Rule.
